Oak Vignette Ring
This ring was commissioned by a client who wanted to remount the diamonds from her late mother’s wedding set without letting the stones to be the focus of the ring. It’s uncommon for a jeweler to deliberately obscure diamonds, but the resulting design is one that emphasizes the preciousness of memory over the preciousness of materials. The three diamonds are tucked between the branches of an oak tree, symbolizing lineage and creating sculptural elements that match the visual flare of the stones. This design was hand carved in wax and cast using the customer’s collection of 14k Tiffany gold jewelry. The Images below are ordered from concept illustration, wax carving, through to the finished ring.
